Project Overview:
Aerojet Turbine Reworks Inc. successfully completed a comprehensive overhaul of the Lycoming T53 turbine blades, delivering components optimized for peak performance and extended service life. The project involved precision machining, welding, and advanced thermal treatments to restore the blades to OEM specifications.

Scope of Work:

  • Precision Machining: Restoration of blade geometry with sub-millimeter tolerances.
  • Welding & Repairs: TIG and resistance spot welding to repair worn or damaged areas.
  • Non-Destructive Testing: Magnetic particle and liquid penetrant inspections to ensure structural integrity.
  • Thermal Spraying & Heat Treatment: High-velocity plasma arc coating applied, followed by vacuum furnace brazing to strengthen material properties.
  • Airflow Calibration: Optimized airflow performance for improved engine efficiency.
